The main emotion (and probably the only one as well) this film made me feel is pure disgust. For a film about misogyny, it is ridiculously misogynistic itself. I get that this is Renato's story and not Malèna's, but she still feels like a bidimensional character, like a walking pair of breasts, a beautiful shell empty on the inside. The film appears to me to want to be a critique of the male gaze, but it very clearly adopts the male gaze itself. I hate that the film romanticises Renato's """relationship""" (or lack thereof) with Malèna, when all it is
